Report MSL 2013: Pahang FA vs Negeri Sembilan FA

A goal at last. Negeri Sembilan just scored their first goal of the MSL 2013 season last night at Kuantan against Pahang. Yes, the Deer lost 1-2 to Pahang but most importantly, we got a goal. I predicted before that we will get a goal there due to the fact that Pahang defence was not that good (based on performance versus KL Felda United FC) and a goal we got.

The match was shown live on RTM1 but I missed the whole first half of the match due to my class. So I can't comment much of the performances in that half. The things that I can comment were the formation and starting line-up. First, the formation. I am surprised that Divaldo Alves still stick to his 4-2-3-1 formation. I know it is a good formation but still using a lone striker is seriously damaging the confidence of the fans. Obviously in the last two matches, the lone striker didn't managed to perform as he might be.

Secondly, the starting line-up. Aliff Shamsuddin inclusion in the line-up was a surprised to me. He is slow and he was substituted at half-time yesterday anyway. Firdaus Azizul got the nods to play up-front, with De Porras nursing an injury. But I believed De Porras was dropped to save him from further blushes and loss of confidence. Abd Ghani Rahman deputised in the center of back four as Paul Modibo is injured in the match against Terengganu. The other players were just the same from the previous matches.

In the second half, nothing much to talk about as the team's play was mediocre. Sivanesan was not doing his job properly and Amirul Hadi Zainal of Pahang always overran him in midfield. Firdaus Azizul as always performed poorly, eventhough his 'never-say-die' attitude can be proud of. Mohd Rahizi who came on later on scored the only Negeri Sembilan's goal so far in the 82'nd minutes in close-range effort.

Man of The Match: Mohd Rahizi.
Need to Buck-up: Firdaus Azizul, Aliff Shamsuddin, S. Sivanesan and Mohd Nazrin Nawi.
Overall: The worst performance in all matches this season. Even Sivanesan is not doing his job properly. Seems like something is not right about the players' performance. Too mediocre.
